Electric Train Set
67Am I just not getting this? Please tell me I'm right. Please tell me that I actually do get it and I haven't missed something. Is the President of the United States actually willing to spend fifty three billion dollars on an electric train set??? Didn't he ever get one for Christmas? This is a project that has been reported to extend over the next six years at that cost and it has also been reported that national results will not be realized for at least twenty-five years. This is what President Barak Obama outlined in his budget blueprint this week and has pushed ahead with his plan despite federal funds being denied to him by three newly elected Republican State Governors from Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida. With Florida almost considered a double whammy because it had been one of the two states (along with California) deemed most viable for the project. And even with all that has been reported on television, the radio and in the news papers about this project it would seem to me that there are a few simple questions that have been neglected by the main stream media. So, I'm forced to ask these simple questions here. 1. Will Barak Obama and his train advocates be around in six years to take the heat if the fifty-three billion dollar Presidential ear marked fund falls short and it is unable to meet it's 2017 newly adjusted dollar spending quotas? 2. Will Barak Obama and his train advocates be around in twenty-five years to take the heat for this project should it ultimately fail? 3. Why would the President of the United States select a budget project that will not show it's true numbers until long after he vacates office? And 4. Final question I promise, with the national debt in it's present condition, do we really need to be spending this kind of money in the first place and as a by product of spending this money creating more public sector jobs? OK, OK, that was kinda like two questions and I kinda snagged them from the media, but you have to admit they are pretty good questions.
Think about it. This is another one of those projects that will be around long after the administration that starts it is gone and will no doubt, over time, be changed, rewritten and/or corrupted into something that it was never originally reported to be. And that's if it succeeds. If it fails... Well then, that's a completely different matter. If it fails then the tax payers will only be left with a multi billion dollar mess to clean up, not to mention the waste of the original funds. Plus as an added bonus we'll get to hear a few politicians complaining about all the public sector employees that are put out of work because of the projects failure. Is our President and his administration suffering from rail envy after seeing what some socialistic countries in Europe have done, not to mention China? Ya I know, another question and another one that I snagged from the media. But I couldn't help myself and you have to admit, it fits.
Hasn't this administration spent enough money? Will it ever stop? I know, more questions. This administration has spent more money than all of it's predecessor administrations combined, yet the out flow of funds seems never ending. Isn't it time we as a nation take heed of these actions and remember them when entering the voting booth. I believe it was Milton Friedman who said "The only place we have, to hold our politicians accountable, is at the ballot box."

I believe it was "Morgan Freeman", who said, "Get busy living, or get busy dying", in the Shawshank Redemption!
I'm not sure how that applies to your article, but Morgan does play a lot of high ranking officials in some of his movies...
I personally think this is an outrage! I have been laid off for two years now, and my unemployment is about to run out. I'm certain that we can find better uses for all that money. As far as his dumb train idea, I think that he should look into a great American past time, for advice on his dumb project...
The Simpsons!
If he truly is an American, he should have watched the Simpsons, and liked them! I mean, hasn't he ever watched the monorail episode? It's the one where a fast talking crook, takes everyone's money, and builds an electric death train that goes haywire. It ends up being a huge waste of money.
I think it would be a much smarter idea, to waste the money on researching "Teleportation" as an alternate form of transportation instead. Cause at least the Sci-Fi freaks would back him on that one! (No disrespect intended toward Sci-Fi freaks)
